A BRIDGE BETWEEN YOUNG ITALIANS AND THE COMMUNITY

Our main goal is to provide support and assistance to young Italians who wish to integrate into the Italian-Australian Association System. We recognize the importance of a successful experience within this community and are committed to sharing valuable information and opportunities for involvement that can foster successful integration.

CONNECTION AND SUPPORT: INTEGRATION INTO THE ITALIAN-AUSTRALIAN COMMUNITY.

OBJECTIVES GIA NETWORK

  1. Integration into the Italian-Australian Association System: We offer support and guidance to young Italians who wish to integrate into the Italian-Australian Association System. We share valuable information and opportunities for involvement that can foster a successful experience.
  2. Support the work of Italian Institutions in Australia and promote Modern Italian Language and Culture: We are committed to supporting Italian Institutions in Australia in their work and in promoting Modern Italian Language and Culture. We recognize the importance of preserving our roots and promoting Italian cultural heritage in the Italian-Australian community.
  3. Information Desk: Our Information Desk is dedicated to young Italians newly arrived in Australia. We provide resources, counseling, and personalized assistance to help you overcome initial challenges, adapt to the new culture, and obtain practical information for a smoother transition.
  4. Protection Network: Your safety and well-being are important to us. We have created a protection network for young Italians who need assistance. We offer a safe and confidential environment where you can share your concerns and find the support you need in a variety of areas, including mental health, employment, and legal assistance.
  5. Inter-Generational Network: We believe in the value of interaction between different Italian generations in Australia. Through events, workshops, and collaborative programs, we create opportunities to connect young people and people of different ages. This inter-generational network fosters the interchange of knowledge, and experiences and the creation of lasting bonds.

Italian-Australian Associations and Communities: The Italian-Australian community is rich in cultural, sports, and social associations that offer a wide range of activities and events. LThe Confederation of Italians in the World is an aggregating body of associations, consortia, and companies of Italians abroad who are members.

CO.AS.IT is an Australian organisation founded in 1968 to assist Italian immigrants and enhance the Italian language and culture. They provide language courses, and community initiatives like elderly care and manage the Italian Bilingual School with a bilingual curriculum in Italian and English.

The Charitable Fund was created in 2011 by Father Atanasio Gonelli, shortly before his passing. Its mission is to carry on Father Atanasio's 61-year legacy of assisting the elderly, youth, the sick, the underprivileged, and those in need within the community.

The Patronato ACLI is an organization under private law that has been providing public service since 1945 when its organization was conceived and structured by the ACLI, the Christian Association of Italian Workers.

The Dante Alighieri Society is an Italian cultural institution that aims to protect and disseminate the Italian language and culture around the world.

Founded to protect and promote the historical and cultural heritage of the Apulian community in Sydney.

Young Australian-Italian Business Network, an independent organization and Asia-Pacific leader in the Young Italian Executive Global Council.

Il West Apia Football Club è una società calcistica con sede a Sydney, nata nel 1954. Il club ha una forte radice comunitaria e negli anni è diventato un punto di riferimento per la partecipazione sportiva e la crescita dei giovani all’interno della propria comunità.

Club Marconi is one of the largest, most modern, and cosmopolitan Registered Clubs in Australia. Club Marconi was founded as a bowls club in 1956 by 106 members of the Italian community in Sydney's western suburbs.

Canada Bay Club in Sydney's Inner West has been a meeting place for the local community for more than 50 years.

DISCOVER THE ITALIAN INSTITUTIONS IN AUSTRALIA

The Consulate General of Italy in Sydney is the Italian diplomatic and consular representative in Sydney, Australia. It provides assistance to Italian citizens in Australia and promotes bilateral relations between Italy and Australia.

The Italian Cultural Institute in Sydney, an official organ of the Italian Government, promotes the Italian language and culture in Australia and New Zealand through cultural events that disseminate ideas in the arts and sciences.

ITA - Foreign Trade Agency is the government agency that supports the business development of our companies abroad and promotes the attraction of foreign investment in Italy.

ENIT, the Italian National Tourist Board, is the official government agency for the promotion of tourism in Italy. It has offices all over the world, including Australia and New Zealand.

The Italian Chamber of Commerce promotes and develops trade relations between Australia and Italy. Founded in 1922, it helps companies in both countries by offering services tailored to business needs.

The NSW Comites is a representative body of Italians living abroad. It has the task of promoting social and cultural initiatives, protecting the rights and interests of Italian citizens, and collaborating with the consular authority.

GIA - YOUR ONE-STOP SHOP FOR A SMOOTH TRANSITION INTO YOUR AUSTRALIAN ADVENTURE

4- YOUTH PROTECTION NETWORK

We have created a strong protection network for young Italians in need of support, with the main objective of providing a safe and confidential environment where you can share your concerns and find the support you need in different areas, such as mental health, employment, and legal assistance.

  • Solidarity and Community: With a spirit of solidarity and a sense of community, we launched a fundraising campaign to help young Italians who are facing difficulties due to COVID restrictions imposed by governments around the world. Thanks to the incredible contribution of the 'Father Atanasio Gonelli Charitable Fund', in collaboration with 'Rete Italia and Il Globo', and with the support of 'IGA LaMonica Haberfield', we were able to raise and donate over $100,000, helping more than 750 young Italians across Australia. In addition, we provided more than 1,000 free RAT test kits, which were hard to find but indispensable at the time.
  • Unity and Brotherhood: Based on the principles of unity and brotherhood and listening to the diverse needs and challenges of young people, the GIA Network continued to help and support the Italian community through other funds and initiatives.
  • All-round support: We have helped single mothers in finding housing, supported parents who have found themselves on the other side of the world to support their children in difficult situations with the authorities, helped young people who did not yet speak English in prepare their resumes for entry into the world of work, and promoted other assistance initiatives. We are here for you, ready to offer our support in any way we can.
